Feeling nostolgic for 1984.

Today, a co-worker was talking about naming a pet ferret Widdle which was also the name of an Ewok. I happen to have a special place in my heart for Ewoks.

Back in 1984 a wonderful little TV movie aired called The Ewok Adventure and was written by George Lucas with special effects by Industrial Light and Magic. It was followed by Ewoks: The Battle for Endor in 1985. My brother and I were enchanted with these movies.

The plot is about two young kids searching through space for their missing parents. The kids wind up on the forest moon of Endor, where the Ewoks live. It starred the cutest little 4 year old girl with curly blond hair. Her name was Cindel and was played by an unknown actress Aubree Miller. These were the only 2 films she ever starred in. Today she is 28 years old.

My dad had taped them on Betamax also referred casually to as “Beta. Eventually the VHS format defeated Beta and we no longer could watch the Ewok movies. I happily discovered that clips of the movie can be viewed on YouTube and of course the DVD is available at Amazon.

While watching the clip, I can recall childhood memories of reciting the movie line by line.

I have Caravan of Courage on VHS somewhere in storage. Unfortunately it has degraded quite badly so is almost unwatchable anymore, thank god for the DVD releases!

[...] Yes and No. As for the yes, it reminds me of a simpler time… complete with Wicket. As a sidenote, the strange little white creature always reminded me of my wife’s childhood dog, Aerial. [...]
