I just loved this little song! Fievel was so cute. One Christmas morning I snuck out to the tree while my parents were still asleep, and I saw the most beautiful thing - a ginormous plush Fievel under the twinkling lights, then I peeked at the gift tag. And. I was for my brother. None the less, I love this song. I still do. I sang it when I was 8 and I still sing it today.

I can’t help but wonder with all the press the Virginia Tech massacre is getting, is it in some way glorifying violence maybe for a small angry group of youth? I sympathize that the victim’s families and friends are suffering incredible pain and I give all my prayers and hopes for them - but with the recent news that Cho Seung-Hui mailed a package to NBC its sounds as if maybe the publicity was intentional - as if it was his moment to put his name in history books.

Maybe he felt so alone and so ignored for such a long time, that this was a way for him to get the attention he always wanted. I don’t know… We all try to just understand the simple question… Why? I just can’t fathom how someone could do something so terrible.

Even that I write about it on my little blog adds fuel to the fire, but when he cited “martyrs like Eric and Dylan” — apparently a reference to Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, the teenagers who killed 12 students and a teacher at Columbine High School in Littleton, Colo., eight years ago this coming Friday. I have to ask? Is the fact that this is getting so much press going to entice some other youth to follow the same path?

Are there others whom see this violence as martyrdom? I want to throw up with the thought.

Media is changing thanks to the internet and technology. The way news moves through the internet and the ability for anyone to be their own broadcaster is here, today. This instant coverage is different than it was of years past.

Regardless, we have to stand together and in sharing the grief - my biggest hope is that it will touch lives and prevent future violence, not glorify it.

I was asked by Shannon L. Ford who represented Florida in Miss USA 2002 to be on a panel of five Judges for Miss Miami USA 2007 and Miss Miami Teen USA 2007. Shannon recently returned to Florida after a 5 year stint in New York and became involved in the Miami Pageants. She was awarded the Miss Photogenic award in 2002 at Miss USA and was a Miami Dolphins Cheerleader.

The event was hosted by Jamie Converse Estrada formerly Miss Florida USA 1998 and currently Mrs. Florida America and the entertainment was quite memorable by Just Dance It!. In one act a little girl about 4 or 5 years old stole the show with a dance to “Vienna” with more facial expressions than this guy. But she was a billion times cuter.

While I can not discuss the details or scoring of my decisions, I can say I was quite impressed with all of the contestants - a total of 8 competitors in Miss Miami USA and 7 in Miami Teen USA.

I had to hold onto the edge of my couch to keep from sliding off with laughter. Tonight’s episode was a Scrubs musical extravaganza from the Tony Award composers of “Avenue Q”! They had songs such as “It all comes down to poo” and “It’s a guy love.” Warning Spoiler Ahead.

A patient comes into the hospital with an unknown illness where she thinks everyone is singing. The entire episode is a blown out musical! It was absolutely hilarious. My favorite song is “It all comes down to poo.” I never thought they could make a song that rhymed all the different words of poo. “In musicals there’s always a happy ending but in life sometimes you end up missing what you left behind… Even the music you left in your head.” Here’s a sneek peak of Guy Love if you missed it.

marissa.jpgMy friend, Marissa Whitley (Miss Teen USA 2001) gives her thoughts on the Miss USA Scandal.

Here’s an excerpt from Marissa’s Blog

“…The fact is: Not everyone with a national title makes bad decisions. Girls and young women need positive role models that stand for more than the horrid party girl antics that have taken over the little starlets of America. Whatever happened to being known for having morals and standards that adds class and dignity to the world? That’s what we should be willing to fight for not this tacky mindless grotesque behavior that not only makes them look bad but isn’t newsworthy at all. This mishap only makes the Miss Universe Organization look bad in their decision to crown such a young lady who has decided to throw all of that influence away. It’s sad to know that there are so many positive and responsible young women who would be great Miss USA’s. “

Personally, I think Trump is trying to take advantage of the publicity engine that follows such an event, especially after the “Rosie” dispute.

What do you think? Will this make you want to watch Miss USA 2007 even more or for the first time?
